When you join Canyon Light Photographic Expeditions, you’re not simply taking a trip: you’re joining a small group of photographers on an immersive journey through some of the most extraordinary landscapes of the American West.
Our expeditions are intentionally limited to eight photographers, allowing us to travel efficiently, spend more time in the field, and provide meaningful individual attention. Every day is thoughtfully planned around the landscape, the light, and the photographic opportunities it presents.
During the expedition, you’ll explore the remarkable landscapes of Canyonlands National Park, Arches National Park, and Dead Horse Point State Park. From towering sandstone arches and immense canyon vistas to dramatic overlooks carved by the Colorado River, these locations offer an incredible variety of subjects and compositions. We’ll seek out the best opportunities for sunrise, sunset, and the changing light in between: giving you time to work deliberately rather than simply checking locations off a list.
But Canyon Light is about more than photographing spectacular scenery. Select days devoted to Environmental Portraiture and Specialized Techniques give you the opportunity to expand your photographic skills beyond traditional landscape photography. You’ll learn to work with people and place, explore creative approaches to seeing and composing, and experiment with techniques that can add new dimensions to your images.
Throughout the expedition, you’ll have the benefit of expert photographic guidance, thoughtful planning, and hands-on instruction. Whether you’re refining your understanding of light, looking for stronger compositions, or exploring techniques that are new to you, our goal is to help you return home with more than a collection of beautiful locations: you’ll return with photographs that reflect your own creative vision.
And because this is a small-group experience, there’s plenty of time to enjoy the journey itself. Starting in the spring of 2027 Dave Fulghum : Photographer will deliver the experience you've been searching for: A guided photographic tour of one of the most special places on earth. Having lived in Utah for 18 years Dave brings local knowledge of some of the finest locations for landscape and wilderness photography in the state of Utah.
You will experience grand vistas, intimate areas full of details, wildlife areas and National Parks access. You will travel from mountains reaching above 10,000 feet to the desert floor. You'll visit ancient rock art areas, Native American cliff dwellings, dinosaur footprints, and many other target rich environments for photographers.
All the while being guided by experienced photographers with decades of experience. Dave has assembled a team of top landscape and wilderness artist to guide you, assist you, and share their knowledge.
